The Peninsula Singers Begin Practicing for Christmas Concert

The Peninsula Singers, Door County's premier choral group, will begin practicing September 30 for their annual Christmas concert.

Sturgeon Bay, WI, September 11, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Peninsula Singers, Door County's premier choral group, will begin practicing September 30 for their annual Christmas concert. New material for this season will include “The Hands That First Held Mary’s Child” by Dan Forrest (the composer who wrote “In Paradisum,” sung at last spring’s concert); “Christmas Bells” and “I Wish You Christmas” by John Rutter, and “Audete Gaudete” by Ward Swingle. This last song is the one selected by their new assistant director, Martha Ranek.

Artistic Director Merle Colburn invites those who love to sing with a choir to come to the first rehearsal at the Sturgeon Bay Methodist Church, Michigan Street at Ninth Avenue, on Monday September 30. Sign-up and social time begin at 6:15 with practice starting promptly at 7:00 and ending at 9:00. Rehearsals alternate between the Sturgeon Bay and Egg Harbor Methodist Churches. Many choir members car-pool. Membership in The Peninsula Singers remains at 25 dollars per season, which includes all music.

This year’s concerts will be presented at the Sturgeon Bay United Methodist Church on Saturday evening December 14 and at the Door Community Auditorium in Fish Creek on Sunday afternoon December 15.

The Peninsula Singers are a self-supporting volunteer choral group led by artistic director Merle Colburn. The accompanist again this fall will be Janet Anderson. Further information, including all the music to be presented at the Christmas concert, can be found on ThePeninsulaSingers.org Web site.
