Career Step Awarded 2014 Military Friendly Schools® Designation

Career Step has been named to the Military Friendly Schools® list, which honors the top 20 percent of the nation’s colleges, universities and career schools ensuring the education success of America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses.

Provo, UT, September 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Career Step, an online school offering career-focused education, has been named to the coveted Military Friendly Schools® list published by Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning to civilian life. The 2014 Military Friendly Schools® list honors the top 20 percent of the nation’s colleges, universities and career schools by recognizing those that are the most proactive in ensuring the education success of America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses.

“Inclusion on the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools® shows Career Step’s commitment to providing a supportive environment for military students,” said Sean Collins, Vice President of Victory Media and a nine-year Navy veteran. “The need for education is growing and our mission is to provide the military community with transparent, world-class resources to assist in their search for schools.”

Career Step has trained over 9,000 military service members and dependants over the last few years, and the school’s online, career-focused training programs in the growing healthcare and technology industries are an ideal match for military students. These programs offer flexible training for careers in growing fields such as pharmacy technician, medical coder and medical administrative assistant. These careers offer opportunities for our military students nationwide.

“We are honored to be recognized on the Military Friendly Schools® list for the fourth year in a row,” said Career Step Military Liaison Tim Reynolds. “This designation is a testament to the time and effort our faculty and staff devote to serving our military students. We are proud to serve a community that sacrifices so much, and we believe that maintaining our Military Friendly School status, participating in the Department of Defense's Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), and working with the MyCAA, GI Bill and military tuition assistance funding programs are all crucial parts of our military support efforts."

The Military Friendly Schools® media and website, found at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com, feature the 2014 list, interactive tools and search functionality to help military students find the best school to suit their needs and preferences. The 1,868 colleges, universities, and career schools on this year’s list exhibit leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience. These schools have a variety of proactive programs and policies for student support, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility and other services specific for military students.

Now in its fifth year, the 2014 list of Military Friendly Schools® was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 10,000 schools nationwide approved for VA tuition funding. The survey results that comprise the 2014 list were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weightings and methodology established by Victory Media. Each year, schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard than the previous year via improved methodology, criteria and weightings developed with the assistance of an Academic Advisory Board of educators from schools across the country. Complete survey methodology is available at www.militaryfriendlyschools.com/Article/methodology-press-kit.
