"Bible Storyland" a documentary film to be screened on Saturday September 28th, 2013 at 7pm at the A+D Museum in conjunction with acclaimed exhibition of never built projects. Hosted by Charles Phoenix.

Los Angeles, CA, September 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- A+D Museum (Architecture and Design) has just announced a special event screening of the award winning documentary “Bible Storyland” in conjunction with their acclaimed exhibition “Never Built: Los Angeles”. The screening will be Saturday, September 28, 2013 starting at 7pm and will be introduced by special guest Charles Phoenix, Pop Culture Historian.

“Bible Storyland”, directed by Stephanie Hubbard, is a fun, quirky exploration into the meaning of life, death and obsession as it highlights the ten year quest of art dealer Harvey Jordan to find the lost story of this never-built theme park. The film includes never before seen footage and information about Disneyland, “The Wizard of Oz”, Yo-Yos, Hollywood films and religiousness in the early 1960’s. The film features Charles Phoenix (retro Pop-Culture Humorist), Rev. Canon Malcolm Boyd (religious leader, writer for The Huffington Post), and Debi Derryberry (prolific voice actor, “Jimmy Neutron”).

Bible Storyland, the 220 acre theme park, planned for Southern California in the early 1960’s, was conceived by Nat Winecoff, a former V.P. of W.E.D., the group responsible for planning and building Disneyland. Other principles of the project were actor Jack Haley, who starred in “The Wizard of Oz”, and Donald Duncan Sr., inventor and entrepreneur, who manufactured and popularized the Yo-Yo. The Master Planner for the project was Bruce Bushman, previously a Disney animator (“Fantasia”) and designer of attractions at Disneyland.

Co-curated by Sam Lubell and Greg Goldin and designed by Clive Wilkinson Architects, “Never Built: Los Angeles” examines some visionary works that had the greatest potential to reshape Los Angeles, from buildings to master plans, theme parks and transportation proposals any of which could have transformed both the physical reality and the collective perception of the metropolis. Many of these schemes still have relevance today, and many could inspire future projects. The projects beg the question: Why were they never built? Included in the show is the original hand drawn map from Bible Storyland Theme Park.

-Chris Epting, pop culture expert & author

“‘Bible Storyland’ is a wonderful look at an honest to goodness chapter in California’s folk history. It's a real investigative eye-opener and fun to watch!”
