Advanced Technology Facility Showcases Methodology to Reduce Electric and Network Costs During October 16 Lunch Event

TAG Infrastructure Society Member IP UtiliNET to Feature Sustainable Technology Initiative at Club Entrepreneur College Park.

Atlanta, GA, October 06, 2013 --(PR.com)-- IP UtiliNET has combined high-speed communications, intelligent energy systems and advanced automation to create one of the most technologically advanced facilities in the U.S. at Club Entrepreneur, in College Park. On October 16, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., IP UtiliNET CEO David Quinn, Club Entrepreneur partner and TAG Infrastructure Society member, will provide a lunch and learn session and tour of his company’s “living laboratory,” which has experienced a 60% reduction in power costs, while improving network speed and reducing dependence on the power grid. The event is open to the public. To register visit: http://bit.ly/ClubEntrepreneur.

“The electric bill for this 12,000 square foot facility was $180 in September per the owner. We’ve implemented a DC-based LED lighting system, which has reduced the original 600 amp engineering requirement to a 100 amp requirement using five 20 amp breakers with software only controls for lighting, while communicating on a 1 Gigabyte Passive Optical Network (GPON) requiring zero distribution switches,” Mr. Quinn said. “We are capable of operating off the grid while incorporating environmentally friendly LED lighting, high-speed communications and advanced security.”

As the first DSIMpower© solution in the state, lighting is managed from a central module connected by wireless to each intelligent power supply module (PSM). The PSM connects to the AC power grid as well as to other renewable forms of electricity such as solar. The power supply is activated and monitored by centralized software, which determines how much power is being drawn and automatically shifts from the use of grid-supplied AC power to DC-based alternative energy. In addition, Club E College Park features Sustainable Network Technology (SustaNET©), which combines high-bandwidth communications and DC microgrid technology, enabling organizations to automate power use and facility access. By using one strand of single mode optical fiber, the campus area network system can be accessed through one centralized platform without the need for additional equipment.
