Texas Animal Lovers Learn Cats R Cool at GreaterGood Event

Seattle, WA, October 21, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Texan animal lovers will have a chance to learn a bit more about their pets, pick up some photography tips, and maybe add a new furry family member at a Cats R Cool event sponsored by GreaterGood's The Animal Rescue Site.

Cat Daddy Jackson Galaxy and Underwater Dogs photographer Seth Casteel take the stage together to show how Cats R Cool in an event to help improve cat adoptions. The event will also teach the public how to improve shelter adoptions of dogs and cats with grooming and positive pet photography through the One Picture Saves a Life program.

As part of his Cats Uncaged tour, Animal Planet star Galaxy will reveal the secrets of "Cat Mojo" while pet photographer Casteel will teach the basics of photographing cats to improve their chances of adoption. Casteel has criss-crossed the country this summer to teach One Picture Saves A Life workshops. Participants will be encouraged to use these skills to help their local shelters and rescue groups.

Anyone is welcome to attend this event, which will include prizes and the opportunity to adopt cats and dogs from local rescues and shelters. The Austin Humane Society and Austin Pets Alive staff will be on hand with adoptable cats and kittens, as well as dogs.

Pre-registered shelter staff and rescue volunteers will have an opportunity to meet with either Galaxy or Casteel after the public presentations to learn more. There also will be special presentations for shelter staff and rescue volunteers from Boehringer Ingelheim on vaccinations and Found Animals on microchipping and disaster preparedness.

GreaterGood.org Executive Director Elizabeth Baker will present more information about the Cats R Cool program and how rescue groups and shelters can apply for related grants.

John Paul Pet will be teaching shelters and rescues best practices for grooming their pets to raise adoption rates. They are also donating products to local shelters and rescue groups in attendance.

· Take proactive measures to prevent these signs of stress from developing in the first place.
· Increase adoptions by showing potential adopters what a great “product” cats are.
· Enrich cat and kitten behavior by enriching their environment.
