Women Veterans ROCK! is Putting a Female Face on Veterans Day

The ARC Theater of Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. will be home to the 5th annual Women Veterans ROCK! Rally. The free community event will serve as a tribute to military women and their families. Additionally, service providers and employers will be present to facilitate the needs of the veteran community.

Washington, DC, November 05, 2013 --(PR.com)-- On Monday, November 11, 2013 the Women Veterans ROCK! Advocacy Campaign for Women Veterans and Military Families will kick off its fifth anniversary celebration by hosting its annual Women Veterans ROCK! Rally and Veterans Day Celebration.

This free community service event will be open to all Military Women and Military Families from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The ARC Theater of Performing Arts located at 1901 Mississippi Avenue S.E., Washington, D.C. 20020.

This Veterans Day, more than 350 members of the Women Veterans Community are expected to gather in our nation’s capital to recognize America’s Women Veterans during the Veterans Day Wreath Laying Ceremony and Veterans Day Tribute Program that Women Veterans ROCK! hosts to celebrate Women Veterans, Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve Service Women, Military Spouses and Military Families.

An annual event, the Women Veterans ROCK! Rally and Veterans Day Celebration is known for “Putting A Female Face on Veterans Day Celebrations” by honoring Women Veterans who have served and passed on, as well as those who have served and live on by providing Women Veterans with resources and access to community-based resources in a female-friendly and family-friendly environment.

This year, the Women Veterans ROCK! Rally will feature retired U.S. Army Veteran Linda J. Lee as the Mistress of Ceremonies with performances by Dance Dimensions, Inc., first place winners at the legendary Apollo Theater’s Amateur Night Competition; SONY recording artist Ron Henry, Director of the “Voices of Service Gospel Choir” from CAMMO Music; and Coach Adrean Turner, a certified professional life coach hosting “Ladies Can We Talk.”

Retired United States Air Force Colonel A. Michelle Gardner-Ince, Director of the Center for Veterans Enterprises at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C., will be presented the Women Veterans ROCK! 2014 Honoree of the Year Award in recognition of her 27 years of military service and ongoing leadership in the growth of Veteran Enterprise in America.

The Women Veterans ROCK! Rally and Veterans Day Celebration includes a complimentary Welcome Reception, Women Veterans Resource Fair, Veterans Day Wreath Laying Ceremony, Veterans Day Tribute Program, as well as a Networking and Dessert Reception.

Veteran-friendly service providers and employers seeking to hire Women Veterans will be on-site during the event, so Veterans seeking employment are encouraged to come prepared to expand their networks. This year’s sponsors and affiliates include: America Works, CVS Caremark, the D.C. Department of Employment Services, and the Washington Area Metro Transportation Authority.
