Director and Operations Manager of Northern Virginia Tutoring Service to present Strategies for School Success to the Timber Lane Elementary School Parent Teacher Association. This presentation is part of an ongoing series conducted throughout Northern Virginia by Dr. and Ms. Perrino addressing issues such as how to identify differing learning styles, strategies that will help the learning process, time management techniques, and strategies for student self-advocacy.

Falls Church, VA, November 03, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Ralph G. Perrino and Ms. Denise Perrino will speak at Timber Lane Elementary School in Fairfax County, Virginia on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 on the topic “What You Need to Know! Strategies for School Success.” Dr. and Ms. Perrino will address issues such as how to identify differing learning styles, strategies that will help the learning process, time management techniques, and strategies for student self-advocacy. This presentation is part of an ongoing series conducted throughout Northern Virginia by Dr. and Ms. Perrino. Each installment in the series is addressed to a specific age group from elementary through college students.

Dr. Perrino established Northern Virginia Tutoring Service in 1995. Dr. Perrino is an Associate Professor at Northern Virginia Community College where he has taught sociology, political science and business management since 1984. Dr. Perrino was awarded the prestigious NVCC Education Foundation Outstanding Service to the College Award in 2012. He has extensive experience working with parents, school officials and civic groups to resolve difficult problems associated with academic achievement.

Dr. Perrino has recently served as both President of the Board of Washington Independent Services for Educational Resources (WISER) and Chairman of the Board of the Greater Falls Church Chamber of Commerce. He is currently Vice-President of the Board of the Fairfax Partnership for Youth, and a Board member of Friends of Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium and Creative Cauldron Theater. He is also a member of the Falls Church City Education Foundation, The Falls Church Public Schools Business in Education Program, and the Arlington Public Schools Partners in Education Program.

Dr. Perrino was honored with a 2009 James B. Hunter III Community Hero Award for his work in support of programs at Patrick Henry Elementary School, where he mentors students from kindergarten through fifth grades. The Arlington School Administrators also recognized Dr. Perrino's civic involvement and experience by awarding him the prestigious Arlington School Administrators 2006 Civic Award.

Denise Perrino is a retired educator and director with 34 years experience in the Fairfax County Public Schools, including McLean High School, where she taught Theatre Arts, Public Speaking, Reading, Film Study, and Language Arts, in grades 7-12. She was instrumental in the development and writing of curriculum for Fairfax County Public Schools including Drama to the Core!, an approach to learning that incorporates theater into core subject areas.

Ms. Perrino brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the resolution of the many learning issues facing children attending our public schools. Her teaching strategies have been recognized throughout Fairfax County as innovative and effective ways to help children overcome learning issues to become successful students.

As a theatre teacher, she directed over 100 productions. Under her direction, McLean High School was nominated for 55 Cappies Awards, winning 15, including Best Play in 2002. McLean High School was also invited to perform at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. A graduate of Catawba College, she was a charter inductee of The Blue Masque Hall of Fame in 2008 in recognition of her meritorious life in the theatre.

Ms. Perrino has held board positions in the Fairfax County Theatre Teachers (TADA), the Secondary School Division and the Young People’s Theatre within the Virginia Theatre Association, and is a member of The American Alliance of Theatre Educators (AATE). She also acts, directs, and produces for Creative Cauldron Theatre, Faction of Fools Theatre Company, and Vienna Community Theatre.
