Kowa Optimed to Feature Nonmyd WX 3D Simultaneous Stereo Retinal Camera at the 117th AAO Meeting and to Provide Reduced Pricing to AAO Attendees

Guests of the Kowa booth will have the opportunity to purchase this year's featured product, the Kowa Nonmyd WX3D, at a reduced price for the duration of the AAO meeting.

Torrance, CA, November 08, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Today, Kowa Optimed announced it will feature the Nonmyd WX3D Simultaneous Stereo Retinal Camera at this year’s American Academy of Ophthalmology Meeting November 16-19, in New Orleans, LA.

“We are thrilled to have Nonmyd WX3D be the focus of this show,” says Rick Torney, national sales manager. “The Nonmyd WX3D is such an incredible device with so many features that can really make the difference when it comes to accurately diagnosing a patient. It definitely deserves the spotlight at AAO this year.”

Guests visiting Kowa Optimed’s booth will have the opportunity to see the Nonmyd WX3D in action at one of two stations, which will have two operational cameras on display. The cameras will be hooked up to flat screen monitors above them so guests can view exactly what the operator sees when using the device. Knowledgeable Kowa representatives will also be on hand to answer any questions regarding the Nonmyd WX3D or any Kowa products.

In addition to testing out the Nonmyd WX3D firsthand, guests can also take advantage of special show pricing offered November 16-19 for the Nonmyd WX3D and numerous other Kowa products. AAO attendees who place an order for one of these five products will also receive a pair of Kowa YF Series binoculars, valued at $120. (These offers are only available for orders to be filled within the domestic U.S.)

Kowa’s Nonmyd WX3D simultaneous stereo retinal camera offers both 2D and superior stereo 3D images while maintaining Kowa’s high quality imaging and ease of use. When using the Nonmyd WX3D , simultaneous stereoscopic photography is possible in just one shot. The Nonmyd WX3D uses an exclusive optical design combined with a high-resolution 16-megapixel NikonÒ digital SLR camera back. The Nonmyd WX3D displays images of the ONH and macula in 3D, providing superior stereo images to support diagnosis of sight-threatening conditions such as glaucoma.

Retinal images can be taken even with smaller pupils when using the Nonmyd WX3D. On-screen guides indicate if the pupil size is within the sufficient range for photography.

In 2D mode, the Nonmyd WX3D operates like a standard 45-degree non-mydriatic retinal camera. Mosaic photography is an additional option available when using the 9-point fixation mode and allows for mosaic photography covering a large retinal area. The camera also offers an automatic mosaic merge function, which easily creates mosaic images with automatic image rotation and alignment.

Instant and simultaneous 3D photography is possible in 1-shot, thus stereoscopic images are captured without the camera shifting. The shape of the optic cup and disc can be viewed on a 3D image. The operator can also switch between the parallel and cross viewing methods with one click when viewing on a 2D monitor.

The camera provides a color-coded display of the depth distribution in the analysis area or a graphical display of the cross section of an arbitrary position. The Nonmyd WX is able to display a 3D image based on the stereographic data. In addition, the camera can display optic disc parameters including DDLS, a polar coordinate display of the depth distribution, which enables visual display of the thin part of the marginal region of optic disc, and a graphical display of the depth distribution of cup and disc profiles.

Kowa Optimed and the Nonmyd WX3D can be found at booth number 3739 in Hall G next to the Academy Resource Center and the AAO Learning Lounge.
