William Peace University Hosts New Production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood by Rupert Holmes
Four-Year Baccalaureate University Presents Production Directed by Jason Dula,WPU’s Associate Professor of Musical Theatre
Raleigh, NC, November 14, 2013 --(PR.com)-- William Peace University, a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that the university will host a new production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood, written by Rupert Holmes, on Thursday, Nov. 14 through Saturday, Nov. 23. The show will be performed nightly from 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the university’s Leggett Theatre, located at 15 E. Peace St., with an additional matinee performance from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 23. Jason Dula, associate professor of musical theatre, will serve as director of the musical.
The Mystery of Edwin Drood tells the story of John Jasper, a Jekyll-and-Hyde choirmaster who is in love with his music student, Rosa Bud, even though she is engaged to Jasper’s nephew, Edwin Drood. When Drood disappears on Christmas Eve, suspicions abound that someone has murdered him – but who and why? Drood is presented through special arrangement with Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc.
