Thousand Oaks, CA, November 18, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Shelter Hope Pet Shop, a non-profit volunteer-based pet store devoted to helping shelter animals in need, and striving to put an end to puppy mill pet shops, is celebrating their 2 year anniversary and successful adoption record with a red carpet event November 21, 2013.

The Thousand Oaks location at Janss Marketplace has been highly successful with over 650 adoptions since opening in November 2011. Kim Sill, Founder of Shelter Hope Pet Shop notes, “We couldn’t be this successful without our volunteers and partners, like NewMark Merrill and Sally’s Rescue. Janss Marketplace donates this space, allowing our volunteers to save many lives, and Sally’s Rescue helps by getting dogs from shelters, making sure they are healthy, groomed and ready to be adopted. We’re thrilled to work together to make a difference.”

On Thursday November 21st, a special screening of the movie “Hotel for Dogs” will take place to celebrate the two year anniversary and 650 adoptions benchmark. “Hotel for Dogs” is an American children's comedy film starring Emma Roberts, Jake T. Austin, Troy Gentile, Kyla Pratt, Johnny Simmons, Lisa Kudrow, Kevin Dillon and Don Cheadle. Shelter Hope Pet Shop has become the Hotel for Dogs in the Thousand Oaks community, working with local volunteers to help find homes for shelter animals.

During the event, Sally Cicchetti, of Sally’s Rescue, Inc. will be awarded the 2nd annual “Rescue Me” award for her efforts in shelter animal rescue. She “After seeing hundreds of pictures of dogs behind bars and learning the horrific stories coming out of our shelters, I made it my life's mission to save as many dogs as possible and educate the public about what is happening in our shelters. It has become a full time job. I love Shelter Hope Pet Shop. They are the model for what all "pet shops" should be. Shelter Hope has made it possible for people to adopt a shelter dog in a beautiful, safe atmosphere.”

There will be a silent auction beginning at 4pm, red carpet arrivals at 5:00 p.m. and movie screening begins at 6:00 p.m. The Regency Theater is located at 255 North Moorpark Road, Thousand Oaks, California. Tickets are $10 each and funds go to support Shelter Hope Pet Shop. Tickets and more information are available at www.ShelterHopePetShop.org
