This is a new release from the legendary jazz/funk band The Headhunters featuring Paul Jackson on bass, Bill Summers on percussion, Mike Clark on drums, Brian Jackson on keyboards and Jerry Stucker on guitar.

New Orleans, LA, November 19, 2013 --(PR.com)-- The Headhunters' fusion of funk and jazz has made them one of the most innovative groups in history. In 1973 The Headhunters teamed up with legendary jazz keyboardist Herbie Hancock to redefined funk and jazz with some of the all-time biggest hits in the fusion genre. Most notably are "Chameleon" and "Watermelon Man."

"High Fly" is the new single from the legendary jazz/funk band The Headhunters featuring Paul Jackson on bass, Bill Summers on percussion, Mike Clark on drums, Brian Jackson on keyboards and Jerry Stucker on guitar. Released November 2013 on the New Orleans based record label Basin Street Records and the band is scheduled to start recording the full album in early 2014.

“This track is reminiscent of the early days of The Headhunters classic sound yet with the modern edge that the group has evolved into. High Fly starts out with the classic rhythm section sound of percussion, drums and bass creating a relentless funky groove that percolates as the guitar and keyboards enter to start to build the intensity. With the synthesizer melody pulling the listener in the track begins to become huge and the guitar puts the icing on the rhythm section, by this time the tune jumps out the speakers. As the song goes into high gear it leads into a high-powered guitar solo. When the journey starts to come to completion the track dynamically winds down to an outro to keep you wanting more. This is where the classic interplay between the funky rhythms that The Headhunters are famous.” - G.T Smith The Jazz Cat
