Tesselle Introduces Modern Design Concepts to Eco-Friendly Cement Tiles

Tesselle, a supplier of custom, hand-made cement tiles introduces their first collection of modern designs that includes geometric, organic and botanical patterns.

Riverside, CA, November 17, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Cement tiles were invented in Europe in the 1800s, and many original installations are still in place. Still popular today, these tiles come in many sizes and shapes and are hand-made on hydraulic presses through an earth friendly process that does not involve kiln firing. Cement tiles can be installed indoors or outdoors, and on walls, floors or counter tops.

Karin Jeske, founder of Tesselle, has introduced their first collection of cement tiles in a mix of modern designs. "When I first discovered cement tiles at a floor covering trade show in 2006, it was love at first site," says Karin. She especially liked the natural surface, the sun-baked color palettes, the sharp lines, and that the designs that came to the edge of the tile. It seemed the perfect product on which to apply some of her fabric design concepts that had previously been implemented on products that ranged from beach towels to carpet tiles.

"A unique feature of Tesselle Cement Tiles is that all of our products are designed to lend themselves to a random layout, which will create a non-repeating design across the surface. In addition, many of our designs also create wonderful patterns in a variety of regular, repeating layouts," says Karin, who studied textile design in college, and has developed products for apparel, textiles and home fashions over her 25 year career. Each pattern is shown in a variety of colors and layouts on Tesselle's website.

Tesselle's first collection of cement tiles includes 10 designs, which include geometric, organic and botanical patterns. Solid color cement tiles are available in a palette of over 50 hues. Tiles are 8"x8" and come in thicknesses of 3/8" or 5/8". The cost per tile ranges from $5 to $6.50 each, or $11.50 to $14.95 per square foot.

All tiles are custom made to order at their factory in Mexico, and are delivered in 8-10 weeks. Tesselle sells directly to consumers and offers trade discounts to designers and architects.
