)-- The Tee-Timer is a baseball training aid designed to make better baseball hitters while making practice more fun and more competitive. The Tee-Timer takes an innovative approach to teach timing, a key characteristic of every good batter in baseball and softball. Coaches can teach mechanics and players practice hand eye coordination but there has never been a more effective way to teach timing. The Tee-Timer is loaded with features that make using it competitive, challenging, and above all else fun.
The Tee-Timer mounts to standard photo tripod and is placed in close proximity to a hitting tee. The electronics in the Tee-Timer emit an audible sequence consisting of six beeps. The object of the game is for a batter to swing the bat and make contact with the ball at precisely the same time as the final beep in the audible sequence. If an impact is late, early, or on time the Tee-Timer will show the results. The Tee-Timer then calculates a score for that swing based on the batters timing. The closer the batter is to making impact at the correct moment, the higher the score. Each game consists of ten sequences and each sequence has a maximum score of ten points. Therefore the maximum point score for a complete game is one hundred points. The Tee-Timer will keep track of the game score so players can try to improve. Batters will quickly realize that the more compact and quick their swing the easier it is to time their impact.
If having a quick compact swing was all that was required for being a good batter then hitting a baseball would be a whole lot easier. A player must, not only, learn a good compact swing but must also learn to be patient and wait until the ball gets into a good hitting location to execute that swing. This is a key feature in the Tee-Timer. The Tee-Timer allows a coach to set two variable sequence speeds and then select which speeds the batter will hear. The coach can also set the random setting that will randomly select sequence speeds between the two settings. In this fashion the Tee-Timer forces a batter to wait and react to a sequence rather than anticipating the speed as is done with a pitching machine.
The Tee-Timer is a wonderfully thought out product that players will stand in line to play and to compete. If a coach is using a hitting net or batters tee in practice they will definitely need a Tee-Timer. Players will find batting practice more like a real game with changing sequence speeds and precise timing. It is a widely accepted rule that if practice is fun and competitive then players get better. The Tee-Timer comes with a 9v battery and a 90 day limited warranty.
