Dallas, TX, November 21, 2013 --( Dallas-based SWACHA, one of the largest not-for-profit regional electronic payment associations in the country, today announced a team of ninth-grade students as the winner of its first annual Cyber Security Awareness Film Contest. The film contest was part of SWACHA’s participation in a national initiative that promotes the awareness of cyber security to help Americans stay safe online.

Students in the BTW Film Club at Dallas’ Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts teamed up to create 10 original film entries designed to build awareness of cyber security via YouTube. Videos were judged on message, creativity, production and editing quality.

Ninth-grade students Emily Henderson and Bella Dekhtyar, both Visual Arts students, and Claire Spigel, a Theater student created the winning video and received $500, on the risks of providing personal information when making online purchases.

SWACHA will also make a $1,500 donation to the BTW Film Club, making a total of $3,000 in awards.

“We are proud to partner with such a prestigious school and were very pleased with both the number of entries in the contest and the quality of the entries,” said Dennis Simmons, AAP, president and CEO of SWACHA. “We are so impressed with the creativity that was shown in each film and the unique messages of cyber security that were conveyed in so many different ways.”

“We are so appreciative of SWACHA for the generous contribution to our film club.
