EITAGlobal Organizing a 2-Day in-Person Seminar on Open Data Protocol (OData) Workshop: by Chris Woodruff

This seminar offers understanding of OData, a standardized protocol for creating and consuming data APIs that allows easy and standard HTTP REST endpoints that receive rich queries from the client.

Boston, MA, January 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Venue, date and timings: This seminar will be held in Boston, MA. The venue for this seminar will be announced soon. This seminar, which will be held on March 6 and 7, 2014, will be from 8.45 A.M to 4.30 P.M.

What the seminar is about:

Organizations that build web and mobile applications for their customers, clients and/or employees are generally up against a challenge: getting those applications out into their hands quicker and with less maintainability from their already over-worked IT staff. Moving data across the wire is a fundamental task in application development, but those involved in it have more than a task on their hands. The multitude of options in doing it is just one of them.

This is where Open Data Protocol (OData) comes in as an exciting technology. Hailed as the next revolution in data, OData is a standardized protocol for creating and consuming data APIs that allows for easy and standard HTTP REST endpoints that receive rich queries from the client and return just the right data in the requested format. OData builds on core protocols like HTTP and commonly accepted methodologies like REST. The result is a uniform way to expose full-featured data APIs.

In this seminar, the speaker will give hands-on learning that will prepare the attendee for real life challenges when they leave the workshop. In this seminar, the attendee is invited to consider the many opportunities and challenges for data-intensive applications, inter-organizational data sharing for "data mashups," the establishment of new processes and pipelines, and an agenda to exploit the opportunities as well as stay ahead of the data deluge. It will open up a new way to look at their data that they may not have thought possible.

He will cover the following areas:

- REST and the principles of the Internet
- Introduce the Open Data Protocol (OData)
- Detailed working knowledge of the OData protocol
- Develop your own OData feed that produces data
- Develop web and mobile applications that consume data from an OData feed
