San Francisco, CA, September 20, 2007 --(PR.com)-- A folio box set of signed, limited edition prints by photographer Douglas Menuez will be featured at the Macy’s Passport 2007 Event. These images follow the inspiring journey of twenty orphans who overcame tremendous hardships to form a dance troupe and become cultural ambassadors for their troubled country. They have brought their intense energy and joy to audiences across the US over the past ten years, which have resulted in their support of more than 700 orphans in Uganda. The prints will be featured at Passport gala events on September 20th in San Francisco and September 27th in Los Angeles.

"It was a privilege to work with these extraordinary children whose ability to overcome extreme adversity with grace and joy was humbling and deeply moving,” said Menuez. “I felt a deep responsibility to capture the essential experience of their lives. As always, taking the photograph is half the work. To fully express the images, I knew the final prints would need to surpass the standard technical limits of tone and color and deliver a breakthrough in quality. I'm very proud to present these exquisite prints from New Light Editions which I'm pleased to say exceeded all my expectations."

Each folio box set contains 15 signed, limited editions prints. The images are selections from Menuez’ forthcoming book “Transcendent Spirit: Orphans of Uganda” published by Beaufort Books. The folio box set is curated and presented by New Light Editions, a purveyor of fine art photography based in San Francisco. The prints are Photo Trust certified, a designation that ensures the prints are of archival, museum grade. In addition, PhotoTrust validates the authenticity of the print and the artist.

A portion of proceeds from the sale of the prints goes to Empower African Children, a not-for-profit providing major support to the orphans of Uganda. Innova, a provider of archival fine art paper and Canon and both provided generous support for creating the folio box sets.

The sets will be offered at the Passport galas and are also available through New Light Editions and Empower African Children.
