Stormlord Games, Inc., a new video game development studio founded by industry veterans Mike Wallis and Chris Bernert, announced today that they have launched a Kickstarter campaign for their their first title; “Empires of Tahn.” A Kickstarter campaign has been launched to help raise funds for the project, a massively multiplayer real-time shooter (MMORTS) for mobile devices.
Stormlord’s founding president is Mike Wallis who rose to fame as the executive producer of the critically-acclaimed EVE Online and whose credits also include Lord of the Rings Online. CCO Chris Bernert’s credits include ESPNU College Town, Social City, Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online. Most recently, the pair collaborated on Imperium: Galactic War for Kabam Austin before striking out on their own to form the new studio.
“We want to leverage the accumulated institutional knowledge of the former Kabam Austin team and focus it towards making a next-gen mobile product,” said Wallis, former General Manager of Kabam’s Austin studio. “With Kabam, we were able to create an MMO quality backend, combine it with cutting-edge game design, and launch it on the web within eight months. We strive to do even better with Empires of Tahn.”
Bernert further explains, “Play it on whatever device you enjoy. There isn’t an advantage to any one of them other than portability and access. Empires of Tahn is a persistent game so players will want to have quick access to their accounts whenever anything exciting is happening. By making the game truly cross platform, we can offer players multiple ways to play the game when and where they want. Our preliminary tests have proven to be quite exciting, we are confident on where we are going with this game.”
