Major New Report Provides Strategic and Detailed Analysis of the European Electronic Manufacturing Services Market

As the European and Global economy slowly recover from the downturn of the last few years, the European Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) Industry in 2013 is forecast to decrease by 0.5% in 2013, compared with 2012 and total European revenues are estimated at Euro 25.5 billion.

London, United Kingdom, December 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Electronics.ca Publications, the electronics industry market research and knowledge network, announces the availability of a new report entitled "The European Electronic Manufacturing Services Industry - A Strategic Study of the European EMS Industry 2012-2017".

As the European and Global economy slowly recover from the downturn of the last few years, the European Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) Industry in 2013 is forecast to decrease by 0.5% in 2013, compared with 2012 and total European revenues are estimated at Euro 25.5 billion, according to Reed Electronics Research. We forecast that Western Europe will in fact grow in 2013 to 11.08 billion, from 11.00 billion in 2012 and that this growth will slowly increase through to 27.8 billion by the end of 2017. However, in Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa and other low cost countries, where there is much greater reliance on the 3C segments - Computing, Communications and Consumer electronics. In this geographic area, we forecast that 2013 will close on 14.45 billion but will grow to 14.72 billion by the end of 2014 as consumer confidence recovers providing improving prospects for the 3C segments and the business-to-business markets. Throughout the next few years we will continue to see a transfer of electronic manufacturing within the EMS sphere from Western Europe to low cost countries and increasingly due to greater production in the Automotive, Medical, Control & Instrumentation, Industrial and Telecommunications (AMCIT) assembly.

We expect the low volume/high mix sectors of AMCIT to grow at a Compound Annual Average Growth Rate (CAAGR) in Western Europe by between 1.9% and 2.5% over the period to 2017. Most Group 1 global EMS are increasingly competing for business in the AMCIT sectors and this will be felt predominantly by the indigenous Group 2 and Group 3 EMS companies. All of the Group 2 companies have low cost manufacturing operations in Central and Eastern Europe, North Africa or elsewhere and an increasing number of Group 3 companies are also locating part of their production in low cost regions whilst retaining low volume manufacture in Western European countries. It is also evident that EMS companies are being asked by customers to increasingly provide design, development, and NPI services and become further involved in logistics, customer service and product after-care.

We estimate that there are now in excess of 950 individual companies with over 1,300 manufacturing locations offering EMS services with the greater majority in Group 4, which in our definition are small privately - owned companies operating nationally and possibly in niche sectors. We expect to see further gradual consolidation of these EMS companies, across all groups, over the period to 2017 as the level of competition intensifies in a low growth market.

This eleventh edition of The European Electronic Manufacturing Services Industry - A Strategic Study of the European EMS Industry 2012-2017, highlights the issues impacting the European EMS market.

This comprehensive report provides:
