Dawn Sherman Named Dean of Academic Program Development at AIC

Springfield, MA, December 13, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Dawn C. Sherman, Ed.D., of Woodstock, Conn., has been named Dean of Academic Program Development at American International College. The announcement was made recently by AIC Provost Todd G. Fritch, Ph.D.

In her new position, Sherman will be responsible for leading undergraduate and graduate academic program development, program partnership initiatives, and educational innovations in conjunction with the office of Academic Affairs, and other related offices across campus.

As Dean of Academic Program Development, she will also research, develop, and implement new academic programming, develop new academic partnerships with external academic and non-academic entities, and pursue external funding in support of academic programming.

Sherman received her bachelor's degree from Central Connecticut State University, a master's degree from the University of Rhode Island and her doctoral degree from the University of Hartford.

Previously, Sherman served as the Associate Dean for Program Development at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass., where she developed new income-producing programs on campus and at off-campus locations. She also coordinated academic initiatives for the division, including regional accreditation activities and faculty assessment.

At Nichols, Sherman also served as Interim Dean, Assistant Dean for Special Academic Programs, Assistant Dean for On-Site Programs, and Director of Career Services.

She has written several articles and texts, including three Professional Development Seminar Workbooks.

Sherman has been an active member of the International Center for Academic Integrity (ICAI), the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
