North Plainfield, NJ, December 14, 2013 --(PR.com
)-- According to KPCB's Internet Trends 2013 report, 15% of all Internet Traffic is Mobile. Comscore also reports that US Internet Time spent on mobile devices (smartphone + tablet) in May of 2013 exceeded Internet Time spent on PCs. As smartphone sales have since surpassed PC shipments in 2011, and as Tablet shipments are estimated by IDC to surpass PC shipments by 2015, the mobile usage trend is still in the ascendancy. As a result, the business case for making web sites adapt to mobile devices has since passed compelling and is now essential.
In the mobile-dominated world of today, not having a Web site that also caters to mobile devices - like smartphones and tablets - could literally be the difference between winning and losing a new customer. In addition, as research by Latitude indicates, 61% of people have a better opinion of brands when they offer a good mobile experience; so having a mobile-friendly Web site could also be the difference in reducing customer churn. Responsive + Adaptive Web Design helps Web designers enable their Web sites for this new scenario but it is fraught with challenges.
"A big problem for Web designers today is implementing these Responsive and Adaptive features into their web sites quickly and in an intuitive way," says Obinwanne Hill, Founder and CEO of Restive LLC. He adds that "Web designers can design all their layouts for both desktop and mobile screens using HTML and CSS, but that last step of getting the 'adaptive logic' [that determines what stylesheet rules to apply and when to apply them] to work is just incredibly problematic for anyone but the most skilled Web designers. Our plugin solves this problem by providing a very intuitive approach that enables the Web designer focus more on their design and less on figuring out how to implement responsive and adaptive features."
Restive Plugin is a true "Set-and-Forget" solution where all the Web designer has to do is define (1) what device screen widths (or breakpoints) they want to target, and (2) what CSS rules should be applied to the web page when the said device matches a specific breakpoint. The Plugin will then act like a "Broker" and do all the heavy-lifting automatically. Restive Plugin also allows designers to target platforms e.g. iOS, Android, etc. and also form-factors e.g. phone, tablet, etc., something CSS Media Queries can't do. And being a JQuery plugin, it's easy to install and works on virtually all Web browsers.
Restive Plugin comes in two versions: a free Basic version, and a paid Pro version for power users and professional designers that comes with advanced features not available in the Basic version.
