4D Printing Start-up Printvid Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Raise $45,000

Printvid transforms video into a 4D print, which can be displayed without the use of any electronic devices, special headgear or glasses.

Tallinn, Estonia, December 17, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Printvid is the world’s first full package for making four-dimensional video prints, which can be displayed without the use of any electronic devices, special headgear or glasses. This is a new way to preserve memories, capture life's best moments and just have fun.

“We consider a standard photo print as 2D, because it is just a still image,” said Yury Lebedev, founder of Printvid. “The 3rd and 4th dimensions we can get with the use of lenticular lens. The 3rd dimension is the 3D depth. The 4th dimension is time, because it shows not just a still image, but scenes in motion. Now we can make 4D prints, which are protected from water, scratches and color fading.”

4D printing is possible on conventional inkjet printers due to a combination of improved lenticular printing technology and cloud software. There are a lot of uses for Printvid, it can be used to print videos and GIFs, create 3D Art, toys and educational materials for children, 4D magnets, greeting cards, smartphone cases and much more.

Users can prepare photos and videos for 4D printing through the Printvid Cloud app. They can apply templates, filters and effects, add texts and frames to their content. Then file will be interlaced and prepared for 4D printing. This is a web based app, so users have the flexibility to edit their content through any device that has a compatible web browser. Printvid works nicely with inkjet printers having 300+ DPI, most printers today are capable of printing 1200 to 4800 DPI. Inkjet printers with higher DPI allow using more frames per 4D print, which means users can make longer animations and better depth effects.

Printvid is a crowdfunding project with the funding goal of $45,000.
