Aveda Institute San Antonio & Aveda Institute Corpus Christi Honored for Technology in MODERN SALON Media’s "Excellence in Education" Cosmetology School Recognition

San Antonio, TX, December 24, 2013 --(PR.com)-- MODERN SALON Media has named the 2013 class of “Excellence in Education” honorees in its annual program recognizing leadership and best practices among cosmetology schools. Aveda Institutes Texas were chosen to represent excellence in the category of Technology. MODERN SALON Publisher Steve Reiss announced the honorees during the AACS (American Association of Cosmetology Schools) 2013 convention in Las Vegas.

Hundreds of entries were submitted from cosmetology schools from across North America, in eight categories ranging from marketing to placement to school culture. Honorees were determined based on school size or number of locations, with one overall honoree from all applicants named for each category.

Chase Thalman, Director of Operations, explains, "Making education as live, cutting edge and relevant as possible is what it’s about for Aveda Institutes Texas. With the help of technology, our students can carry their work wherever they go; take notes right in the text; create videos; watch instructional videos; research additional sources online and essentially enrich their own library of coursework. Thalman continues, ‘Aveda students are also able to create their digital portfolios and collaborate with instructors, peers and future employers all with one powerful device."

“Based on the volume and caliber of entries received, it is clear there are many wonderful schools doing amazing things to secure a beautiful future for the professional beauty industry,” said Associate Publisher Michele Musgrove. “We will be showcasing many of the applicants’ stories, accomplishments and best practices in our magazines, web sites and e-letters.”

Sharing stories of innovation, inspiration and collaboration from a diverse group of leading schools is an important part of MODERN SALON’s “Excellence in Education” mission, Musgrove explained. “We want to help spread the word about the exceptional work cosmetology schools are doing to help launch beautiful careers. Small schools, large schools, chain schools and single units of chain schools are all represented. We hope the professional salon industry and their communities will join us in celebrating them.”
