Producer Announces Ambitious Development Slate

Sarasota, FL, January 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Veteran TV producer, Walt Gavin is off to the races once again as a New Year dawns. 2013 was the thirtieth anniversary of the groundbreaking nationally syndicated TV offering that bared his name. The Gavin & Lott Show that he co-produced with Bob Lott took the country by storm presenting Black Music Videos and artists to viewers on O&O (Network owned & operated) and Independent broadcast commercial TV stations nationwide that MTV refused to air.

Now in 2014 one of those projects, a sitcom, his Gavin Media NU World (GMNW) production arm is pitching, is based on his experiences developing, producing and co-hosting that seminal series. A “show with-in a show” captures the dynamic, fast-paced combination of music and television as the music video craze was in its infancy. The series also called A Black Music Magazine helped spur the growth of an entire industry.

Of course in the all-digital world of today many of the visual styles that were, “cutting edge,” at play in those days may seem quaint to 2014 audiences, but great music and laughter never goes out of style. And anyway, everything old is new again.

The writer-producer added author to his moniker in 2012 with the publishing of his first novel, The Autobiography of Obsidian Dumar. At places like NATPE Pitchcon, The Great American Pitchfest in Hollywood, and The Cannes Film Festival & Market in France made the rounds during 2013 seeking a production partner to bring the novel to the big screen.

A third project, Pillow Talk, a lifestyle entertainment series, which combines game and talk show elements with just a little sex, is based upon the segment of the same name that he and The Healer Coach, Rhona Post debuted on radio in the Sarasota market, Anything Goes with Rhona & Company.

As Walt describes the hybrid series, “It’s To Tell The Truth meets I’ve Got a Secret with just a little Oprah thrown in for good measure.”

The promotional efforts that have been taking place throughout 2013 may be bearing fruit as 2014 opens, with keen interest being shown in all three projects from various quarters, both nationally and internationally. The first stop on this year’s odyssey will find Gavin in Miami for the NATPE Conference at the end of January and then it will be back to strolling the Croisette in Cannes in May. In between will find the intrepid producer wearing his author’s hat pushing book sales along the Eastern Seaboard, and later in the year it will be back to the West Coast.
