The Hippie Run 5k/Glow Party Brings Communities Together to Promote Fitness and Help Fund Local Charity

The Hippie Run has 3 big goals in one “Groovy” event: helping promote healthy living, bring communities together in celebration, and most importantly raise money for The Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Riverside, CA, January 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Hippie Run 5k is kicking off 2014 on February 1st in Perris, California with a fresh “groovy” twist to running a 5k. This event launches the first of many hippie-style fun run events planned around the country this year to coax people off their couches and out into their active community. Participants of all ages and fitness levels will complete this fun run, as they come together as community members to celebrating peace, love, happiness, and of course, fitness. A generous portion of all race entry proceeds will be donated to The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Orange County and Inland Empire Chapter.

The event encourages runners, walkers and even dancers to come celebrate the hippie and disco era as they participate in the themed run that will culminate with a large finish line celebration. The after party will include hippie and disco era singing and dancing, with several contests and giveaways. Many participants will arrive in outlandish outfits and costumes ranging from platform shoes, afros and bellbottoms…to tie-dye and beads. Runners all receive free t-shirts and a swag bag of goodies. The non-competitive, family-friendly atmosphere makes the run/walk accessible to all, even if you’re in a wheelchair.

Inspired by the desire to help people improve the quality of their lives, and increase the spirit of unity in local communities, co-founders Jared Clingo and Tyler Wilde came up with this creative spin on exercise and fun. “We want people of all ages and fitness levels to get up off their couches and remember running can be fun, just like when we were kids,” said race co-founder, Tyler Wilde. “We are merely providing them an outlet to let loose and boogie. Our hope is that they’ll encourage their friends to join them in the fun.” Both co-founders are avid proponents in charity fundraising. Co-founder Jared Clingo said, “Our goal with founding this company is to raise thousands of dollars to donate to local charities around the world. We have an immediate goal in this Southern California event of raising $5000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation local chapter. This is a lofty goal for our first event, but we feel we people will come together and make this happen.”

The Hippie Run is a for profit company that gives a portion of the proceeds of each race to a local charity. “The only thing better than having ridiculous amounts of fun, is knowing that it also helps a great cause in a great community,” Clingo said. Participants of all ages are welcome to run, walk or even dance the course.
