Cary, IL, January 23, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Light Efficient Design’s Customized LED Lamps Reduce Energy Consumption 75% and Improve Color Rendition

Big Sandy Superstore, one of the top 100 furniture retailers in the U.S., today announced the successful LED lighting retrofit of four of its showrooms, which average 49,000 square feet, and one 80,000 square foot warehouse.

Undertaken to reduce energy costs and the stores’ carbon footprint, Big Sandy Superstore replaced approximately 700 lamps total. To date, the retailer has achieved a greater than 75 percent reduction in energy consumption per lamp.

Working with distributor King Companies, Big Sandy selected the latest LED retrofit lighting technology from Light Efficient Design, for the project. Light Efficient Design provided the retailer with a custom color temperature that provided a warmer, residential feel for the retail environment. “LED lighting is the solution to getting both energy savings and a better color rendition in our large showrooms,” says Mike Miller, Director of Maintenance for Big Sandy Superstore.

In addition, Light Efficient Design’s LED-8026 is multi-voltage which made the retrofit even easier. “We have different power sources at each store and the LED-8026 could accommodate each of those,” explains Trey Van Hoose, President of Big Sandy Superstore. “From a labor standpoint, it was quicker and simpler.”

Van Hoose adds that the project qualified for rebates from American Electric Power, which helped defray the costs of the lamps, creating more cost savings.

Pleased with the aesthetic and energy-saving results of the LED retrofit, Big Sandy Superstore plans to install LED lamps in a new store opening soon in Lancaster, Ohio. "We're proud to be leading the way in giving our customers the best possible, energy-conscious shopping experience," says Van Hoose.
