Bay Area Music Producer Releases Benefit Album… for His Cat

San Jose, CA, January 28, 2014 --(PR.com)-- When Tom Freeman, who goes by the artist name Freematik, had to deal with a second life threatening injury in two years for his young cat Puma, who came home beaten up with a broken hip bone, he decided to take the idea of “crowdsourcing” music into the pet rescue arena. He quickly put together a compilation of unreleased tracks, chose some cat related song names, and put out a benefit album to raise funds for the surgery, for a $3 donation. While Freematik has already put the surgery on his credit card, and Puma is now recovering, the approximate $3300 worth of bills is hitting at a very bad time, as he has just lost his own health insurance due to the rates doubling, and is struggling to deal with the regular bills of living in the Bay Area.

Freematik had this to say about the project: “I have a day job and try to make ends meet, and do my art mostly just for people to enjoy, or for charity. Most of my music is available for free, since I really just want people to listen, I feel like I give a lot as an artist to try and entertain and captivate people’s imaginations, as well as give a lot back to the artist community, and this is an opportunity for me to ask for something in return. After saving Puma from near death last year, in a costly and difficult battle with a bladder obstruction, I felt I couldn’t give up now, and while I will take care of this either way, I could really use some help from my fellow cat lovers, in exchange for some cool songs, and exclusive pics and a movie included with the download.”

While Freematik has humble expectations about the donations this album might generate “any help would be amazing,” he does have a plan in case the unexpected happens, and he gets more donations than the surgery created “if that happened, my plan is to donate the difference to the local Humane Society.”

The album can be listened to and downloaded for a $3 donation at www.freematik.com
