Pennsauken, NJ, February 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Veterans in need are getting a tasty lesson in healthy eating at the Food Bank of South Jersey at their kitchen in Pennsauken, NJ with a six week course every Wednesday night until March 5, 2014. FBSJ’s Healthy Living Initiative is providing the education to veterans referred by Volunteers of America, which focuses on how to make ordinary food donations into extraordinary and delicious meals.

“This overview will provide nutritious affordable cooking skills to these soldiers who have given us so much,” says Raquel Moreno of the Food Bank of South Jersey. “Taking some fresh seasoning with vegetables and sauces, we show people how to make the most out of what they receive because of the generosity of others.”

Val Traore, CEO for the Food Bank of South Jersey, says she is thrilled to host a program for veterans. “Recent figures from the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs estimates that up to 8,000 veterans are homeless in the state of New Jersey,” Val says. “These are brave men and women who have served nobly, and they can sometimes be neglected as we focus on the needs of so many others during this season.
