Social Media Connects Teens to Seniors Through Valentines

Meals On Wheels West is impressed with enthusiastic response from teens to DoSomething.org Valentine Card campaign.

Santa Monica, CA, February 11, 2014 --(PR.com)-- DoSomething.org and MentorUp.org are spearheading a national Love Letters campaign which has been encouraging teens to create Valentines Cards which will be distributed on Friday to seniors through the Meals On Wheels national network. Meals On Wheels West in Santa Monica received more than 400 beautiful cards filled with personal loving messages from teens throughout the Los Angeles Area. Misham Hashmi from Granada Hills (pictured) said, “I participated in Love Letters because I wanted to give back to the community. I always want to contribute to my community, even if it's just to put a smile on people’s faces.”

Chris Baca, Executive Director of Meals On Wheels West added, “At MOW West the volunteer delivery program bridges the generations every day. The distribution of Valentines Cards is one more way we reach out to our neighbors. It is wonderful that DoSomething.com is encouraging teens to participate in ‘off line’ activities like connecting to people through crafting beautiful cards. None of the cards were made on the computer they took time and effort and demonstrate real caring and creativity!”
