Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Receives 2014 Deficiency Free Survey from New York State Department of Health

Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center received a deficiency free survey from the New York State Department of Health this past January 2014. They surveyed strongly in key areas that helped propel them to an elite list of nursing homes in New York State.

Long Beach, NY, February 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, a premier 278-bed skilled rehabilitation care center, is the proud recipient of a 2014 Deficiency Free Survey from the New York State Department of Health. This rare and difficult to achieve certification is awarded only to select skilled nursing facilities that demonstrated very strong workplace competencies, including clean, well maintained facilities. Such an outstanding achievement is made possible only by the daily commitment and dedication of the exceptional staff of Grandell Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

These surveys serve to evaluate the overall quality of care and living expectations at these nursing facilities and are a great assessment tool for prospective residents, their families and others to make more informed decisions about a skilled nursing facility. Nursing homes in New York receive on average seven citations per health department survey, while the national average is 11.

Other deciding factors include meetings with the residents and their families and a positive overall environment / quality of living for patient recovery and care. The New York State Department of Health reviews these and many other criteria in a rigorous examination lasting several days before awarding a Deficiency Free certification to any health facility. Due to increasingly stringent regulations obtaining this certification is neither easy nor common, Grandell Rehab’s staff is extremely excited about having received this status and are looking forward to continuously providing the highest level of care for our residents.

“The entire administration here at Grandell would like to proudly congratulate our staff for this tremendous accomplishment. It’s not every day that a nursing home receives a zero deficiency survey, and is a direct testament to the hard work we all put in for our residents day in and day out,” stated Baruch Giberstien, Administrator at Grandell.
