William Peace University Continues Speaker Series with Dr. Peter Mandaville on March 6

Local Four-Year Baccalaureate Hosts Presentation & Discussion by Expert on Middle East & Islamic-U.S. Relations.

Raleigh, NC, February 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that it is continuing its University Speaker Series with a presentation and discussion by Dr. Peter Mandaville, a nonresident senior fellow with the Project on U.S. Relations with the Islamic World at Brookings, director of the Ali Vural Ak Center for Global Islamic Studies, and associate professor of government at George Mason University. The event will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Kenan Auditorium located at 15 East Peace St.

Born and raised in the Middle East, Mandaville’s work is focused on the comparative study of religious authority and social movements in the Muslim world, with an emphasis on youth groups, transnational networks, and new media. He has conducted research in Muslim settings such as Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and West Africa, and is most recently the author of Global Political Islam, a broad global overview of Islamic social and political movements. Additionally, Mandaville has testified before the U.S. Congress on Islamic radicalism and authored numerous book chapters and journal articles, and has contributed to publications such as Foreignpolicy.com, the International Herald Tribune and The Guardian.
