Tonight Show and Letterman Comedian to Headline U.S. Veg Corp's NYC Vegetarian Food Festival

New York, NY, February 27, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Comedian Myq (pronounced “Mike”) Kaplan will be among those scheduled to take the mic at the 4th annual New York City Vegetarian Food Festival, March 1-2 in Manhattan.

Kaplan delivers his stand-up routines in comedy clubs all over the country. He has performed on the Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, The Late Show with David Letterman, and his own Comedy Central half-hour special. His first one-hour special will appear on Netflix in May.

His comedic subjects range over a variety of fields, but there is a decidedly vegan bent to much of his material. His debut CD, Vegan Mind Meld, was one of iTunes’ top ten best-selling comedy albums in 2010. That was followed by Meat Robot in 2013 and the upcoming Small Dork and Handsome.

Originally from New Jersey, Kaplan received his bachelor's degree from Brandeis University and a master's degree in linguistics from Boston University. While a student at BU in 2005, he won its "Funniest Student" contest. Now dividing his home base between Boston and New York City, he is also a musician on the side--primarily a guitarist and vocalist.

Kaplan’s performance at the Festival will take place on Saturday, March 1, 1-1:30 p.m., on the Banana Stage.

Other presenters over the weekend will include cardiologists Robert Ostfeld and Joel Kahn, vegan chef Kevin Archer, animal law experts Sherry Colb and Mariann Sullivan, nutritionists, vegan bloggers, and cookbook authors.

Approximately 100 vendors will be showing and sampling their wares, including Vega, Nutiva, Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods, and Rescue Chocolate. There will also be musical entertainment, children’s activities, and a raffle benefiting the New York Coalition for Healthy School Food.

The NYC Vegetarian Food Festival will take place 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, March 1-2, at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues). Tickets can be purchased in advance at https://2014nycvegfoodfest.chirrpy.com/ or at the door. For further information, visit http://nycvegfoodfest.com/.
