JFK Expert to Speak at American International College

In recognition of President's Day, the college will host educator and author, Thomas J. Carty, Ph.D., to address the actual nature of JFK and his administration at the time of his death.

Springfield, MA, February 28, 2014 --(PR.com)-- "JFK, the President You Thought You Knew," will be the subject of a lecture at American International College. In recognition of President's Day, the college will host educator and author, Thomas J. Carty, Ph.D., Chair of the Social Sciences Department and Associate Professor of American Studies at Springfield College.

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the West Wing of the Sprague Cultural Arts Center.

Rather than than addressing issues such as "who killed the President," or "what might have been," Carty, a scholar of American politics and religion, and the Kennedy presidency and Catholicism in particular, will address the actual nature of JFK and his administration at the time of his death.

Gary Jones, professor of history at AIC, and chair of the Cultural Committee, said the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy assassination last year was not only an important historical event, but also an important cultural event. "The number of books, magazine and newspaper articles, TV programs, documentaries, films, novels, plays and poems can be counted in the thousands, or even tens of thousands. For a President that (tragically) did not complete his first term in office and left important domestic and foreign policy issues unresolved, the public has a remarkable and enduring interest and esteem," he said.
