D’Amore-McKim School of Business Adds Eight New Full-time Faculty Members to Growing Roster of Academic Leaders

Boston, MA, March 06, 2014 --( Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business today announced the appointment of eight new faculty members, demonstrating its commitment to providing students with access to a distinguished, world-class faculty.

“Our faculty members are academic leaders, combining practical experience with innovative research to advance their fields, and to inform and challenge their students,” said Dr. Margie Platt, senior associate dean and dean of faculty of D’Amore-McKim School of Business. “We are pleased to welcome these professors and look forward to their contributions in research and in educating the next generation of global business leaders.”

The recently named D’Amore-McKim School of Business continues to invest significant resources to expand and enhance its world-class faculty for the benefit of its students and contributions to business management research. These new faculty appointments are a reflection of this commitment.

These new full-time faculty members have each earned significant achievements in their respective fields. Combined, their research and expertise further enhances the exceptional roster of faculty. The eight new, full-time, permanent faculty members are:

· Paula Caligiuri, Distinguished Professor of Global Leadership, International Business and Strategy; Ph.D., Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Pennsylvania State University. A recognized expert in international business and human resource strategy, Professor Caligiuri is co-author of several books and dozens of book chapters, trade and journal articles. Most recently she co-authored Global Dimensions of Human Resources Management: Managing the Global Workforce, 2nd Edition, Wiley Publishing.

· Yi-Da Chen, Assistant Professor of Information Management; Ph.D., University of Arizona. Professor Chen’s scholarship focus is task-oriented communication in virtual innovation teams.

· Devon Erickson, Assistant Professor of Accounting; Ph.D., Business Administration, Indiana University. Professor Erickson’s recent research addressed “How affect influences investors’ effort to process financial information”, and “The effects of mood on working vs. shirking in group settings”.

· Linlin Ma, Assistant Professor of Finance; Ph.D., Finance, Georgia State University. Professor Ma’s research interests focus on investments and corporate finance. She is currently researching “Competition in the Mutual Fund Industry and Risk Taking” and “Style Shifting in the Mutual Fund Industry”.

· Anahit “Anya” Mkrtchyan, Assistant Professor of Finance; Ph.D., Finance, Pennsylvania State University. Professor Mkrtchyan’s is currently researching, “Bond Liquidity and Firm Investment”, “Board Diversity and Firm Value”, and “Board Experience and CEO Overconfidence”.

· Chris Riedl, Assistant Professor, D’Amore-McKim School of Business (Supply Chain and Information Management Group) and College of Computer and Information Science; Ph.D, Information Systems, Technische Universität München. Professor Reidl’s research focuses on business analytics, Big Data, data science, decision making and social media and online social networks, individual and team productivity, and the Web as a platform for service innovation.

· Nancy Sirianni, Assistant Professor of Marketing; Ph.D., Marketing, W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. Professor Sirianni’s research interests lie in understanding and innovating the customer experience, retail and service marketing, and emotional and sensory marketing. Her recent article, “Branded Service Encounters: Strategically Aligning Employee Behavior with the Brand Positioning” was published in the Journal of Marketing in November 2013.

· Andrew Trotman, Assistant Professor of Accounting; Ph.D., Bond University. Professor Trotman’s research focuses on audit research and sustainability reporting. He is a co-author of the textbook Financial Accounting: An Integrated Approach by K. Trotman, M. Gibbins and E. Carson.
