WBLS 107.5's own DJ Jon Quick presents his 5th annual National Women's month fundraising event, "Beauty and the Beat: Heroines of Excellence Awards" at Suite 36 on Monday, March 24, 2014 from 6-11pm. New York, NY, March 14, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Celebrity DJ Jon Quick presents his 5th Annual Beauty & the Beat: Heroines of Excellence Awards Fundraiser. The ultimate afterwork party with a purpose, this year's event promises to be another grand celebration of achievement and philanthropy.
Hosted by Extra TV's AJ Calloway (original co-host, BET's 106 & Park), each year this event honors 8-9 women of color whom are considered rising stars in their chosen professions.
Past honorees include actress Rochelle Aytes(ABC's "Mistresses"), DJ Beverly Bond(founder, Black Girls Rock!), Dr. Aletha Maybank (Assistant Commisioner of Health, NYC) & Maya Haile (international supermodel). This year's honorees include Tamekia Flowers(event planner), Krystal Garner(actress), Dana Whitfield (attorney), Shanelle Gabriel (recording artist, activist), Shawn Outler (corporate retail executive), Richelle Carey (television journalist), Ambre Anderson (artist), Jesenia Collazo (philanthropist) and Dr. Meena Singh (dermatologist).
"Its always an honor to acknowledge another group of phenomenal women in the name of charity. I feel like this year's event will be the best one yet," said DJ Jon Quick, the event's creator. All proceeds go to AJ Calloway's "Building the Bridge Foundation" and "The Hip Hop Loves Foundation."
