Smaller Government Project Promotes Congressional Field Hearings in Nevada and Arizona

"What we need is a Goldilocks government. A government that is not too big, yet not too small to protect our rights. We need a government that is the Right Size." -Lew Uhler, President of the National Tax Limitation Committee and Founder of the Smaller Government Project, announces his support of two upcoming Congressional Field Hearings in Nevada and Arizona.

Mesa, AZ, March 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Lew Uhler, President of the National Tax Limitation Committee and Founder of the Smaller Government Project, announces his support of two upcoming Congressional Field Hearings in Nevada and Arizona.

“The Federal Government is big and getting bigger. In fact, it is getting so big that even the people in charge aren’t quite sure how big it is,” noted Uhler. Continuing he said, “What we need is a Goldilocks government. A government that is not too big, yet not too small to protect our rights. We need a government that is the Right Size. Therefore, the Smaller Government project supports Congressman who understand that they need to get outside of Washington DC to engage and educate citizens. Effective government for the people needs to happen among the people.”

The first two field hearings the Smaller Government Project will support will be held March 18th and March 20th by the Education and Workforce Committee with the participation of Chairman John Kline (MN-2), Congressman Joe Heck (NV-3), and Congressman Matt Salmon (AZ-5).

In 1970, then-California Governor Reagan designated Uhler as the Governor’s State Director of the Office of Economic Opportunity. In 1972, Governor Reagan asked Uhler to organize and serve as Chairman of the Governor’s Tax Reduction Task Force. With the assistance of a nationwide panel of advisors (including Nobel Laureates Milton Friedman and James Buchanan), the task force developed California’s landmark Revenue Control and Limitation Act, which became a model for tax-expenditure limitation measures in many states.

In 2010, Uhler co-authored with Erick Erickson the book Red State Uprising: How to Take Back America. Uhler also wrote the book, Setting Limits: Constitutional Control of Government, with foreword by Milton Friedman, published in 1989. Uhler speaks internationally on fiscal issues and has appeared on numerous national, regional and local television and radio programs and has been widely quoted in the print media.
