Opens Avant-Garde Center for Female Cosmetic Genital Procedures

With Cosmetic Genital Procedures for Women Dramatically Rising, First-of-its-Kind Center Serving both Men and Women Makes Surgical Remedies Available at One Location.

Alexandria, VA, October 08, 2007 --( As female cosmetic genital surgical (FCGS) procedures skyrocket, Dr. Bernard H. Stern, a pioneer in the procedural area, announced the opening of the International Center for Male & Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery, a newly constructed 6000 square foot surgical facility just outside the nation’s capital, in Alexandria, Virginia. “This multi-million dollar state-of-the-art center is the only one of its kind housing two leading surgeons who are specialists in male and female genital surgery,” Dr. Stern, explained.

The International Center for Male & Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery is the collaborative result of both Dr. Stern, an expert in female cosmetic genital surgery—and Dr. Stephen Giunta, a world-renowned male cosmetic genital specialist, and Medical Director of the newly opened facility. Together, they have opened a surgical center that offers the talents of both men, in concert, to those afflicted by genital disorders. With multiple operating and recovery rooms, including digital imaging, the stand-alone facility spares no expense when it comes to the latest technological innovation. “Now, both men and women can come to our facility for their cosmetic genital surgical needs, and get some of the best care offered anywhere in the world under one roof,” states Dr. Stern.

Considered by many to be the world’s leading expert in the delicate field of female cosmetic genital surgery (Labiaplasty, Vaginoplasty), Dr. Stern, a board certified gynecologic surgeon and member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, has been practicing for over 25 years and has performed more than 900 female cosmetic genital procedures. With an office already located in Fort Lauderdale, Dr. Stern is frequently covered in the media and has patients coming to him from around the world. Dr. Stern states, “These are very serious issues for many women, and sadly in most cases not properly addressed by the majority of physicians. As a result some women actually suffer emotionally and avoid intimacy altogether.” Dr. Stern is one of only a few surgeons with advanced training and expertise in the fine art of cosmetic surgery of the female genitalia and now limits his practice exclusively to these procedures.

Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery is a subspecialty of medicine and surgery that uniquely restricts itself to the enhancement and/or restoration of appearance and function through surgical techniques. It is specifically concerned with maintaining normal appearance and function, restoring it, or enhancing it beyond the average level toward some aesthetic and functional ideal.

Dr. Stern explained that Labiaplasty is often requested when the Labia Minora are excessively large, thick, dark, long, butterfly or any combination of these issues. The cause may be hereditary, genetic, or occur with aging, weight change, or pregnancy. With Vaginoplasty, a small percentage of women are born with a poorly supported and enlarged vagina, however most often it is acquired; resulting from multiple or difficult childbirths. Stretching and tearing of muscles, fascia, and supporting structures even occurs with normal childbirth. The resultant loss of muscle tone (and tearing) and overall enlargement of the vagina often facilitates a loss of sensation during sexual relations, which frequently can affect a woman’s relationship with her mate, or spouse.

“The International Center for Male & Female Cosmetic Genital Surgery is specifically set up to address these problems, which, in some cases may be strictly an aesthetic self-esteem issue, a functional issue such as pain or hygiene, or both,” the well-known surgeon said. When asked who comes to him for treatment, Dr. Stern smiled before thoughtfully replying, “Good question. The answer is women from every walk of life. I get just as many married women as single ones, and from every profession—realtors, nurses, secretaries, sales clerks, doctors and even celebrities. It doesn’t matter what they do for a living . . . if they have a problem I can help them. Need proof? See some of my surgical results on our website."
