)-- SyndicIT Services (“SyndicIT”) today announced the adoption of its eWaste Recycling Service for Multifamily Owners and Fee Managers by Prometheus Real Estate Group (“Prometheus”). The recycling platform is provided through SyndicIT’s partnership with Hewlett-Packard Recycling Services, a best-in-class program for disposal of used IT equipment that offers nationwide pick-up, regulatory compliant disposal, and industry certified recycling services to apartment owners and operators. Through the adoption of this service, Prometheus advances its commitment to environmentally-friendly and sustainable property operations and demonstrates continued industry leadership to heighten awareness of the importance of responsible eWaste disposal.
Through this program, Prometheus is able to securely dispose of used IT equipment including servers, multi-function print devices, fax machines, scanners, desktop and laptop computers, monitors, mobile devices, and more collected from individual property sites and corporate headquarters. SyndicIT and HP’s recycling service for property owners provides on-site pickup of used IT equipment and ensures the proper break down and recycling of the constituent materials. HP requires that all materials are processed according to best practices and in full compliance with relevant local, national, and global regulations. As a SyndicIT customer of HP’s recycling offering, Prometheus receives access to SyndicIT’s automated online request portal that guarantees equipment pick-up schedule confirmation within 24 hours. In addition to accessing a service with data destruction capacities certified by the U.S. Department of Defense and HIPAA, Prometheus further enhances financial reporting controls with the audit capabilities provided from the automated tracking of IT hardware assets leaving the company from any property location.
“SyndicIT’s national recycling program for apartment owners and operators is a fantastic program to help property management companies easily dispose of used IT equipment and even earn cash if equipment being re-cycled has value,” says Lauryn Schimmel, Managing Director of SyndicIT Services. “We are excited that Prometheus, who has been awarded Property Management Company of the Year for 4 straight years, continues its industry leadership in the advancement of sustainable community practices by their adoption and use of our service, and once again sets themselves apart as a shining example of best-in-class, environmentally-friendly management companies.”
While current estimates suggest that 80% of U.S. eWaste ends up in landfills, Prometheus’ adoption of this service showcases its commitment to be an agent of change to protect the environment and to expand awareness of the importance of selecting a responsible recycling partner. Additionally, Prometheus’ engagement of SyndicIT and HP recycling not only demonstrates leadership as an environmentally conscious multifamily operator, but it also highlights Prometheus’ dedication to ensure compliance with state and local recycling regulations.
“Prometheus adopted this service after a thorough review of the SyndicIT program, which is a service offering backed by global technology leader Hewlett-Packard,” says Craig Maness, VP of Technology for Prometheus Real Estate Group. He adds, “Through this program, we can insure that our used electronic equipment is properly disposed of while recycled materials are appropriately broken down and handled for reuse. The collaborative partnership is changing the way electronic waste is handled in the Multifamily Industry, and we hope to set an example as to the positive global impact it will make.”
