Faithful Shepherd Catholic School to Celebrate Earth Day with 3rd Annual Ecothon Event

Eagan, MN, April 04, 2014 --(PR.com)-- In celebration of Earth Day, Faithful Shepherd Catholic School in Eagan will be hosting its 3rd annual Ecothon event on Tuesday, April 22.

The entire school will come together on April 22 to work on numerous earth-friendly activities designed to raise awareness of protecting and enhancing the environment. Activities include: cleaning up school grounds, fulfilling the school’s Adopt-A-Road commitment, doing service work at local parishes, creating seed bombs, and visiting the Dakota County Recycling Center to learn more about the benefits of recycling and the recycling process.

“Ecothon is celebrated as part of our school-wide commitment to instill respect in our students. Our three-pronged mission to teach our students to ‘Take Care of Yourself, Take Care of Others and Take Care of This Place’, are supported through several programs and events throughout the school year including the Ecothon event and the Feed My Starving Children mobile meal pack. We want our students to understand that they can have an impact on others and the community through service and, in turn, how service can impact personal growth and confidence,” says Faithful Shepherd Catholic School Principal, Terese Shimshock.

Past year’s activities have included tree planting, neighborhood litter clean-up and assisting the Eagan Fire Department and the Eagan Forestry Department in building an outdoor classroom to be used at the Fire Safety Center for community events at Eagan Fire Station #2.
