Women Who Run It Teams Up with the Emerge Conference for Their Fashion Show

Toronto, Canada, April 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Kristy Wieber and Lisa Delorme, founders of Rent frock Repeat, are well known for offering women the chance to look fabulous by renting luxury designer dresses for only a fraction of the retail price. Now, on April 22, these two women are offering young professionals their insight into the effect social media has had on the growth of their business and customer loyalty. The company was recently nominated for the 10K Social Media Startup Showdown, a competition hosted by the social media and marketing firm Stryve Group. Wieber and Delorme will be joined by an impressive lineup of industry speakers.

Organized by graduating Media Studies students in digital communications, image arts, journalism and public relations, the Emerge Conference will explore topics relevant to the future of the decade including new technologies and emerging trends. Workshops will feature advice from industry experts on how young professionals can find their niche in a rapidly changing media world.

“The millennial generation is faced with an extremely competitive job market, therefore we must look at things differently,” says Emily Reid, a fourth-year Media Studies student and conference co-chair. “We hope this conference will act as a catalyst for young professionals to reach their potential and explore innovative ways to jumpstart their careers.”

“Emerge provides students and recent graduates from across the GTA with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and insight from leading media experts including successful innovators and entrepreneurs,” says Jerry Chomyn, program head, Media Studies.

Coinciding with this year’s conference is the official launch of the Emerge Media Awards (EMA) program. This first-of-its-kind awards program will recognize unique and innovative uses of new digital media by post-secondary students in Ontario. “The EMAs will showcase the achievements of students, just as this conference does,” says Reid. “We hope these awards will inspire students from across the province to have a positive impact on the fields of communications and digital media.”
