Violin, Harp and Fortepiano at Community Church of Mountain Lakes

May 18 concert with historic instruments.

Mountain Lakes, NJ, May 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- On Sunday, May 18 at 4 o’clock, The Community Church of Mountain Lakes, 48 Briarcliff Road, will present Trio Le Meslange des Plaisirs, James Day (violin), Cheryl Dungan Cunningham (harp) and Kathleen Scheide (fortepiano) in a program of salon music and opera transcriptions by Bochsa, Dussek, Handel, Mozart, Stiel and Webbe.

Le Meslange des Plaisirs is a consortium of musicians specializing in late 18th c. chamber music and salon music 1750-1810, with diversions into earlier music and new music for historic instruments. The ensemble name translates as "A Compendium of Delights," and was used by 18th-century theorists to describe a blending of national styles. Trio Le Meslange des Plaisirs (violin, harp, fortepiano) regularly performs for the Southampton Chamber Music Society, Pennsylvania, directed by violinist/violist James Day. Cheryl Dungan Cunningham and Kathleen Scheide frequently play as duo Voix seraphique (harp, fortepiano). The fortepiano is a smaller, wood-framed predecessor of the modern piano.

The May 18 concert includes a preview of Cheryl and Kathleen’s program for the American Harp Society Conference to be held in New Orleans in June, with additional pieces for violin. A free will offering will be accepted to help support the concert series.
