McCarthy Grows Houston Division with Hire of New Project Director

Brian Luney named newest McCarthy Houston team member.

Houston, TX, May 10, 2014 --(PR.com)-- McCarthy Building Companies, Inc., a Texas builder for 35 years, recently hired Brian Luney as its newest project director in the Houston office. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Luney will be responsible for establishing standards for project scheduling and execution.

“The McCarthy Houston Division is thrilled to have Brian join us. He will add more than two decades of industry knowledge to projects we’re currently undertaking and pursuing, and we know he has a lot to offer,” said McCarthy Houston Division President Jim Stevenson. “We’re excited to see his skillset put to work.”

Luney will assist the company in managing staffing, budgeting, contracts, scheduling, maintaining owner relationships and overseeing risk management practices and overall project performance. Luney will initially be working on The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Victory Lakes Specialty Care Center expansion project in League City, Texas among other projects.

Prior to joining McCarthy, Luney worked as a project director for Rogers-O’Brien Construction in Dallas. He oversaw different aspects of pre-construction and was responsible for several multimillion dollar projects including the 3700M West Village and the 1400 Hi Line residence developments. His background includes a variety of project types including office, mixed use, multi-family high rise, parking garage, and higher education projects, including the addition and renovation of Southern Methodist University’s Moody Coliseum in Dallas.

Luney also was in charge of leading initiatives involving the creation of a Virtual Design and Construction (BIM/VDC) department for Rogers-O’Brien in addition to the reorganization of pre-construction work flows and templates, the management and development of estimating and performance strategies, the creation of a Timberline database and model based estimating and as well as standardized field engineering practices. Additionally, Luney held previous positions with Hensel-Phelps Construction in Austin, Texas.

Luney obtained a Bachelor of Science in Constructional Engineering Technology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. He currently lives in the Galleria area of Houston. His dedication to learning and growing in the industry makes Luney a great fit for the McCarthy team whose mission is to raise the bar on what a true builder can be.
