Columbia, SC, May 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio, located in Richland Northeast Columbia, South Carolina, recently announced that he awarded an honorary black belt to Mrs. Barbara Jennings, Guidance Counselor at Sandlapper Elementary School who is retiring at the end of this school year.

"I was honored to participate in Mrs. Jennings retirement celebration and I wanted to do something special for her that would recognize all the years of helping shape the lives of children in our community," stated Sensei Feldt. "She represents many of the ideals of black belt, by serving others, persevering, being compassionate and setting a good example. This honorary black belt was a way for me to acknowledge her years of work!"

Sensei Feldt and Mrs. Jennings co-taught a leadership program to 4th and 5th graders at Sandlapper Elementary School that focused on black belt principles and the 7 habits of highly successful children.

"I had a wonderful time working with Mrs. Jennings the the past 5 years and I feel really blessed to have worked with her this year teaching the 4th and 5th grades important leadership skills. She is going to be sorely missed, but we wish her a wonderful life in retirement."
