75 Years After Pinball Was Banned in Atlanta, the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo Celebrates "Pinhibition" with a Family-Friendly Pinball and Classic Arcade Gaming Event

The first annual Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo is being held in Atlanta from June 20-22, 2014 at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center. With more than 100 pinball and arcade games set on 'free play' it's the perfect family-friendly summer event.

Atlanta, GA, May 29, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Atlanta is the place to be this summer for the first ever Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo, the Southeast’s foremost pinball and gaming convention being held at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, June 20-22, 2014. The inaugural event opens on June 20th, exactly seventy-five (75) years after the Atlanta Constitution ran its front-page article announcing Atlanta’s ban on pinball.

The first of its kind in Atlanta, the 2014 Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo boasts more than 100 arcade and pinball machines plus a large collection of console games. Everything will be set on ‘free play’ and a daily or weekend pass gives attendees full access to the classic games they grew up playing in their local arcade as well as today’s newer games.

In addition to the free-play arcade gameroom, the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo features a full schedule of vendors, entertaining and informative programs, and noteworthy speakers, including Billy Mitchell – star of King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters and Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade; legendary pinball designers Barry Oursler and John Trudeau; Atlanta’s own Jerry Buckner, whose smash hit song “Pac-Man Fever” rose to the #9 spot on the Billboard Top 100 in 1982; and many more special guests.

Other special event highlights over the fun-filled weekend include the 2nd Annual Southern-Fried Pinball Tournament (an official stop on the Professional and Amateur Pinball Association world championship circuit tour and sanctioned by the International Flipper Pinball Association); a Star Wars Tournament featuring members of the 501st Legion; the Atlanta PinSwap Swap Meet; three movie screenings of films that highlight the history and love of gaming; and a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Space Shuttle, one of the greatest pinball games of all time.

The Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo is making its 2014 home at the Atlanta Marriott Century Center, a family-friendly hotel conveniently located off I-85 just minutes from downtown near the Emory University area at 2000 Century Boulevard NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30345. The hotel offers free parking, a free local shuttle service, and a special hotel room rate of only $89 per night for Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo attendees.

Admission to the Southern-Fried Gameroom Expo is one of the best entertainment values this summer. Attendees can buy a 3-Day Weekend Pass in advance and save money – $35 for adults and $20 for kids 12 and under until May 30, 2014. At-the-door prices will increase to $45 for a 3-day Weekend Pass for adults, $25 for kids 12 and under, and daily tickets are also available.
