23rd CAUSE Leadership Academy Press Kickoff Luncheon: Cultivating the Next Generation of Civic Leaders and Diversifying Representation

Join uthem at the Leadership Academy Media Kickoff Luncheon, June 20th for an opportunity to interview this cohort of emerging civic leaders about the pressing issues of their generation and what drives them to public service.

Los Angeles, CA, June 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Join press and elected officials on June 20th, 2014 to meet and interview the 2014 CAUSE Leadership Academy Fellows about their diverse backgrounds and motivation to become public leaders. Since 1991 the CAUSE Leadership Academy has created opportunities for students who demonstrate academic excellence, commitment to civic engagement and leadership initiative to emerge at the forefront of the public arena. Below is a brief description of this year's cohort.

Alfred Hwang: Taiwanese American rising sophomore at Villanova University currently studying Political Science with minors in Chinese and Naval Science. He is actively involved in ROTC. Hwang will be interning with LA County Supervisor Don Knabe.

Amanda Lee: Thai-Chinese American rising junior at Mount St. Mary’s College currently studying International Business. She is involved with the American Advertising Federation and Sigma Beta Delta. Lee will be interning with U.S. Congressmember Judy Chu.

Hyerin "Lily" Lee: Korean American rising freshman at Williams College currently studying Economics and Sociology. She has been involved with the Korean Daily, Anti-Defamation League, and Constitutional Rights Foundation. Lee will be interning with U.S. Congressmember Xavier Becerra.

Daniel Liu: Chinese American rising senior at UCLA studying International Development currently studying International Development. He is a competitive tennis player and is involved with Pi Kappa Phi. Liu will be interning with U.S. Congressmember Adam Schiff.

Bao Nhia Moua: Hmong American rising senior at the University of Wisconsin Madison currently studying Social Welfare with a certificate in Asian American Studies and Gender & Women Studies. Moua will be interning with CA State Controller John Chiang.

Edwin Saucedo: Hispanic rising sophomore at the University of Southern California currently studying Political Science and Public Policy, Planning, and Development. He is involved in Residential Student Government and Undergraduate Student Government. Saucedo will intern with CA State Assemblymember Ed Chau.

Rita Zhou: Chinese American rising junior at UC Riverside currently studying Anthropology, Law & Society and Business. She is active in the Junior Civitan Service Club and Phi Alpha Delta. Zhou will be interning with U.S. Congressmember Grace Napolitano.
