NCVMA Presents $2,500 Animal Welfare Grant to the Mitchell County Animal Rescue

The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association Supports Local Animal Rescue

Spruce Pine, NC, June 27, 2014 --( The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association has announced it has awarded a $2,500 Animal Welfare Grant to Mitchell County Animal Rescue to help replace deteriorated windows on the shelter’s dog kennels. Since 2013, the NCVMA has granted more than $17,000 to improving shelters across North Carolina.

The Mitchell County Animal Rescue is a nonprofit humane society that provides proper care for stray and unwanted pets. Members of the society assist law enforcement in cruelty investigators, offer low-cost spay/neuter programs for pets owned by the public, and provide in-school humane education and low-cost rabies clinics in cooperation with the health department.

“We are excited to provide this grant to the Mitchell County Animal Rescue to help renovate their facility,” said Claire Holley, executive director of the NCVMA. “The NCVMA is proud to offer its support to this organization in order to improve the lives of local animals and give them the best care possible.”
