R. Lee Ermey to Host Military Makeover Series with Operation Homefront on Designing Spaces™ Airing on Lifetime® TV

TV and screen actor, and former U.S. Marine drill instructor teams up with Designing Spaces and Operation Homefront to Host “Designing Spaces of Hope Military Makeover – A Home for the Holidays” series that will renovate the home of a wounded veteran and his family.

Pompano Beach, FL, July 08, 2014 --(PR.com)-- R. Lee Ermey, “The Gunny,” is gearing up to be the host of the “Designing Spaces of Hope Military Makeover – A Home for the Holidays” series on the award-winning home improvement show Designing Spaces™ on Lifetime TV.

The Military Makeover series will take viewers on a journey through the home and life of a Purple Heart hero and his family. Throughout the series, Designing Spaces along with their partners will work to enhance their home with room by room transformations while inspiring and educating viewers.

“Giving back and honoring our veterans, especially our wounded veterans who have sacrificed so much for our nation’s freedoms that we all enjoy, is truly in itself the greatest reward that I can think of. I have made it the largest part of my life. And, being able to work with like-minded people who share the same respect and sense of duty towards our returning military veterans is something that I really enjoy. Being a part of this show, and what they are trying to do for a wounded veteran and his family, is something I just had to be a part of,” says Ermey.

Designing Spaces has partnered again with Operation Homefront to make an impact in the life of this very special family. Through its Homes on the Homefront program, Operation Homefront – with the help of its corporate partners – awards mortgage-free homes to veterans of any era, helping bring the American dream of home ownership to those who have sacrificed so much for their country.

Ermey is best known for his TV and Movie career which has spanned over three decades, including his break-out role as the tough drill instructor Gunnery Sergeant Hartman in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket. He is a retired United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant and drill instructor who was later honored by the Marine Corps in 2002, and “officially” promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant based on his continued service and positive contribution on behalf of the Marine Corps since he was medically retired from the Marines in 1971.

“Giving back to our Military is something that Designing Spaces truly takes to heart. We are thrilled to be working with Operation Homefront again, and are honored to have R. Lee Ermey, 'The Gunny,' as our host for this special edition of Designing Spaces,” said Scott Moss, Director of Programming, Designing Spaces.

The “Designing Spaces of Hope Military Makeover – A Home for the Holidays” series will begin shooting in South Carolina at the end of August and is slated to air during the holiday season.
