Love That Sari: an Innovative New Designer Sari Rental Marketplace

Fremont, CA, August 01, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Ever spent ages looking through your closet and found nothing to wear? Love That Sari addresses that very problem for the South Asian community by creating an online sari rental marketplace that gives individuals access to unlimited closets.

Love That Sari is a platform that allows lenders, or people who have a lot of gorgeous, underused saris sitting in their closets, to connect with potential renters, who want to wear those saris for an affordable price.

“Our business model is unique because we don’t actually own any of the saris we rent," said co-founder Megana Roopreddy. “Instead, we want sari owners to profit off the investments they’ve already made. That beautiful sari you spent $300 on but only wore on a few occasions can be turned into an asset by allowing others a chance to rent it from you. What Love That Sari does is facilitate those interactions by making it easy for renters and lenders to find each other.”

Love That Sari began as a conversation between friends Megana Roopreddy and Akshaya Ramanujam, complaining about the lack of good options for finding new Indian clothes to wear. Seeing so many options for renting other products—including designer dresses and handbags—they thought back to the multiple occasions they had borrowed each other’s saris in order to have something new to wear, and wondered what it would be like if there was some place you could go to borrow your neighbor’s saris.

“With social media sites like Facebook and Instagram, it’s becoming more and more difficult to wear the same outfit to multiple events—we post pictures and people from our various social circles see them,” said Roopreddy. “Love That Sari gives people a simple and affordable alternative to let them have a new look. And the best part is, if you do end up buying a new sari, you can easily put it up for rent and make some money after you’ve worn it a few times.”

Beyond serving as a site for customers to rent and lend saris, Love That Sari alsoprovides new content on expressing personal style through saris, keeping up with current trends, and accessorizing saris for different events.
