eta College Welcomes Momentum as a Support Partner on Its Golf Professional Learnership

eta College, through its Special Projects division, has joined forces with Momentum in a partnership designed to strengthen their Golf Learnership Programme, now in its second year.

Cape Town, South Africa, August 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The learnership which launched in March 2013, has provided the opportunity for 60 candidates, mainly caddies, to study towards a National Diploma – Professional Club Golfing Diploma. These candidates are hosted at three golf venues (Fancourt in George, Mt Edgecombe in Durban and Crown Mines in Johannesburg). This allows for classroom tuition, practical application as well as the opportunity to play the game on a regular basis. eta College conducts the training at all three venues in partnership with a PGA-qualified professional who works on the improvement of each candidate’s playing ability. It is hoped that the graduates will secure employment in the industry and assist with the transformation of the game through coaching initiatives in communities.

eta College is proud to welcome Momentum as its newest partner in their Golf Learnership Programme. Momentum joins eta College, CATHSSETA and the PGA of SA as the other key partners in this innovative project. Momentum will initially provide golf clothing and equipment for the students as well as funding their coaching initiatives in their local schools. eta College will also be one of the beneficiaries in the Momentum Million Rand challenge.

The Momentum Million Rand Challenge offers a R1million prize in the form of a suitable Momentum investment, in line with the financial needs of the winner. The challenge will be held every first Saturday of the month from 09:00 – 12:00, starting from 02 August 2014 and will continue for a year. A hole-in-one will qualify for a draw in the final shootout

The challenge will run at the Momentum World of Golf in Woodmead and at the other Momentum Golf Villages across the country located at Centurion, Gilloolys, Somerset West, Kenilwoth and Tygervalley. Members of Multiply, Momentum’s wellness and rewards programme will get 10 free shots on competition days while non-members will get one free chance to win the one million rand. Anyone wanting more chances can simply SMS ‘Golf’ to 38137. SMS’s costs R10 per extra ball and proceeds will go to golf development programmes like eta’s.

Paul Laemmle, the manager of eta Special Projects at eta College says, “Our aim, to take 60 candidates through a rigorous professional golf training programme which will culminate in the awarding of a National Diploma to successful students. Momentum’s valuable investment will enable us to equip our candidates with a golf uniform and also allow them to conduct regular junior golf clinics within their communities. We look forward playing a role in developing and transforming the game of golf for the good of all communities, with the support of our partners.”

Charlene Lackay, Head of CSI at Momentum said: “Momentum welcomes the opportunity to build its legacy in sports development with eta Colleges. What we find particularly exciting about the learnership programme is the fact that it builds capability on the golf course, and in the game of life through its education focus.”

About eta College
The eta was launched in 1983 to meet the education needs of fitness practitioners in South Africa. Since then it has developed into the best Sport and Fitness College in the world, offering vocational learning towards national qualifications in fitness, coaching and sport management.

Its courses have been benchmarked globally but what makes it the best is the total immersion approach to teaching and learning. This means a unique balance of theory, practical learning and application in authentic sport and fitness activities. An additional benefit is that students improve their own fitness while learning with eta.

eta Special Projects help support sport and fitness businesses and organisations deliver successful learnership projects for the continued training of their staff. Funding is often secured from CATHSSETA or Corporates and these learnerships and skills programmes are offered annually.

eta College has campuses in Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Stellenbosch, Mauritius and Dubai. Website: http://etacollege.com/
