Golf Galaxy Tour of San Antonio to Host Statewide Event

The Golf Galaxy Tour - San Antonio will host first ever 2-day statewide event at The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch

San Antonio, TX, October 27, 2007 --(PR.com)-- The Golf Galaxy Tour - San Antonio is hosting a 2-day statewide tournament, November 17-18 at The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch. The tournament is being billed as the Golf Galaxy Tour Texas Open Championship.

"This will be a warm up for next year, when our area will play host for the Golf Galaxy Tour National Championship." stated Tony Vaught, Local Tour Director. "When I got the word a few weeks ago, I was thrilled. To hold the Golf Galaxy Tour National Championship in the Alamo City is something I have been looking forward to for a long time."

The Golf Galaxy Tour National Championship brings together players from all of the tours across the country, where one team is crowned National Champions.

"The Golf Galaxy Tour Texas Open Championship is open to all golfers, just like our tour is structured, who normally shoot 95 or better. We are a Real Golf Tour for the Average Golfer." Vaught said. "There will be 2 days of golf, camaraderie, food, fun, and silent auctions." Information for this event, which is sure to sell out quickly, is located at the local tour website, www.MissionCityGolfTour.com.

The Golf Galaxy Tour has been nationally recognized as the #1 Amateur Golf Tour in the United States, operating over 60 tours throughout the country. Texas is fortunate to have 4 Tours within the state: San Antonio, Austin, Houston, and Dallas/Ft. Worth.

The tour is sponsored by Golf Galaxy, Callaway Golf, PGA Tour Partners and Golf Magazine and is designed to give golfers the opportunity to participate in tournament golf on great local golf courses. Assistant Tour Director Dave Roberts is excited about the growth of the tour. "For golfers that score in the 90's, 80's or 70's and who are looking for fun, friendly competition, this is a perfect fit. Our tour offers 2-person team formats which are a great way to build camaraderie with friends and other local golfers. There are no mandatory membership fees or dues, you don't need a handicap, tournaments are played on weekends, and it's very affordable. On top of that, you can win great prizes." Roberts said.

Players receive Merchandise payouts (in the form of Golf Galaxy gift certificates), 50 percent of the field share more than $1,000 in prizes (with full-field) per event, and a year long Derby Points contest crowns a "Player of the Year" at the end of the season.
