Unity Church of Ann Arbor Celebrates 21st Annual World Day of Prayer

Unity's annual World Day of Prayer celebration is held the second Thursday in September. Unity World Day of Prayer is open to people of all faiths. Its purpose is to unite as many people as possible in praying for one another. Unity believes World Day of Prayer is an opportunity to transform the world through prayer.

Ypsilanti, MI, August 28, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Thousands of people will join Silent Unity—an international, transdenominational 24/7 prayer ministry—and Unity churches and centers around the world on September 11, 2014, for the 21st annual Unity World Day of Prayer. The theme of the 24-hour prayer event is “We Are the Light of the World: Let Your Light Shine!”

“World Day of Prayer gives us an opportunity to come together in celebration of our oneness with God, each other, and our world. Through prayer we foster peace and wholeness in our community and in our individual lives,” said Sonja Carico, Spiritual Leader at Unity Church of Ann Arbor.

The 24-hour prayer vigil will begin the evening of Wednesday, September 10, and continue through Thursday, September 11. Unity invites people of all faiths to join in this sacred prayer activity. Names can be submitted for prayer online at www.worlddayofprayer.org.

“The theme ‘We Are the Light of the World: Let Your Light Shine!’ will be visibly expressed at Unity World Headquarters in Unity Village, Missouri,” said Rev. Lynne Brown, vice president of Silent Unity. “The 24-hour prayer vigil traditionally begins with a beautiful candlelight walk across our central courtyard. This year, for the first time, we will symbolize the power of our united prayers by asking people everywhere to light a virtual candle at www.worlddayofprayer.org. The candles will be displayed as points of light on a global map.” The virtual candlelighting experience will continue through September 11.
